Rouen – the capital of Normandy

A coupe of hours on the road, and we found ourselves in the charming city of Rouen. Our time here was very limited, but we had a chance to see the cathedral that inspired Claude Monet’s paintings and stand on the site where Joan of Arc met her tragic end – the kids were really impressed by the story and talked about it non-stop.

Apparently this is the oldest Inn in all of France
The Joan of Arc Memorial Cross – Joan of Arc, patron saint of France and solider was burnt at the stake here on 30 May 1431. She was only 19 years old. Kids are sad.

Despite most restaurants being closed on Sunday, we managed to find some food – here my “tomato salad”!!!

The beautiful Rouen Cathedral. We didn’t have time to go inside, so we just have to come back. I’ve been here before with my grandparents it’s my top 3 favourite gothic cathedrals in the world!
