And just like that, our holiday has come to an end. We said gooodbye to our lovely little oasis, packed up for the umpteenth time and got on a road.

First we stopped by a supermarket and bought some French wine, which is so cheap! We spent 3-6 euros a bottle;) similar bottles cost 3 times in London, so it’s a good deal.

Then we had a surprise for Aleks. He’s always asked to see the Eiffel Tower, he actually claims he’s seen it before when he was at his camp this summer, all the way in Surrey 🤪 so we drove through Paris and popped out to take some photos

Now back home to London!

Despite arriving 2 hours before our ferry, we nearly missed it again due to long queues at the border, but we made!

Reflecting back on the 17 days we spent travelling across France, I will start with this

In reality it was a lot of work, lots of logistics, packing repacking, shopping for food, cooking said food, laundry, planning days, activities, just like every day, but on steroids and in a different country. Having a lot of stuff in the car meant that we had to adjust to a bit of a mess, but we had everything we needed with us, basic food at all times. Didn’t help that I was sick for 3 days, but we still had to carry on. We also had issues with Airbnb a few times, which creates a lot of stress when traveling with kids. For example we were stranded for 40 minutes outside our hotel waiting for the owner to come back when she forgot to give us keys. In 30 degree heat, way past Sophie’s bedtime, not having eaten anything in hours hoping to make a meal at home. And it was a Sunday afternoon, so the whole county is shut down!

I think I got about 20 uninterrupted minutes by the pool one day and maybe another break here and there, but very few moments of peace.

On the other hand, we had unforgettable experiences that we and the kids will never forget, so many special moments. (chuckles) and we would do it again!
